Home Made Falafel with Tahini

Falafel mix is such a versatile staple to have in the refrigerator. Falafel goes great in wraps, as a side dish for a barbeque or can be served alongside salads and hummus for a light summer meal.

The great thing about making falafel at home is that you can make them exactly to your taste!

Simply add more water to suit the texture you desire and in just twenty minutes you’ll have yourself a delicious, healthy snack.

Yields1 Serving
 ½ cup falafel mix
 35 tbsp water
 500 ml canola oil
 ½ tsp baking powder

Pour ½ cup of falafel mix into a bowl and mix with ½ teaspoon of baking powder.

Slowly add water one tablespoon at a time to falafel mix and combine until it reaches your desired consistency. The more water you add the softer your falafel mix will be.

Half fill a saucepan with cooking oil and turn it on until the oil is simmering lightly.

Using a tablespoon or a falafel patty maker, add scoops of falafel mixture into the simmering oil.

Cook 5-6 falafels until golden brown on both sides. Once cooked remove from pan.

Cover with tahini sauce and serve with a fresh salad.
